My 96 f150 4.9L went dead on me last night on the highway.jumped it and drove home.the dash gauge reads real low on battery power When the trucks not running. When the truck is running it reads a little low but still between the - + sighn on the battery symbol.when the truck is running and the battery is not connected its dead center. the truck runs fine without the battery highbeems and all.When i drove back i kept my revs high in hope that the battery just might take a charge for it is only 6 months old. it starts now but still reads realy low on the battery meter.slow bleed is an option but an iffy one because 6 months is awfully slow and you would expect the alternator to compensate. but if it was only charging marginally it could take that long to finally go dead. i dont realy know. im guessing its not a shortin the battery. mabey some sort of bad connection between the alternator and battery or whatever box regulates power distribution in my vehicule if such a thing exists. any input appreciated

Don't you have some kind of a waranty with the battery??

You may have gotten a bad battery take it back and exchange for a new one also check your cables and make sure they are still in good shape.
