Question Airbag Light

Does anyone know how the passenger airbag works, is the light supposed to stay on when the airbag is off or not? mine does not stay on, but the dealer insists that nothing is wrong the light only comes on when the key is in, but that happens either way. If anyone knows please let me know.
Thanks

Cool

My light comes on at start-up, then goes off if the airbag is on. When the airbag is off, key in turned to right and removed don't turn back to center, the light stays on. When you re-insert the key and turn back to center the light goes out.

Cool

I agree with Firezap, I leave my airbag off all the time and the light is always on.
