so far, no problems. But I've heard that it might fry might stock harness. is the factory harness really that weak? Some have replaced theirs with heavier duty one. Please, help if you've done this before.

nevermind, I asked the dealer and they said it should work fine. These newer trucks (I'm assuming 2000+) can handle more load than previous (they say) so I'll keep the bulbs and inspect the harness regularly.

NEW,

I installed a new harness made by Painless Wiring that draws power directly from the battery. The system uses the factory harness as the triggers for the new 40amp relays, one for low beam, one for high beam. This allows your headlights to work exactly the same from your factory switch.

The difference in brightness is AMAZING to say the least. With the factory harness, the light was blue and kinda dull. With the new harness, they are truely bright white.

This is one mod that was very worth while. I got the kit from Summit, but there was one glitch with it. The kit was set up for 9004 bulbs. Painless says this kit will work with both 9004 & 9007 bulbs. However, they neglected to realize that even though the 9004 and 9007 socket is the same, the wire positions are different. Once I figured out which terminals were which, all I did was pop the connectors out of the waterproof harness and switch their locations to match the 9007.

well, there is one problem though, I finally installed my daytime running light so I can't use any aftermarket harness. I'll keep probing on this and will post what I find.
