Question crazy windshield wiper

Okay, at first when this started happening I thought I was doing something, wrong, but now I know I'm not. The problem is, my windshield wipers come on by themselves. It usually occurs when I use the turn signal to the left. I really have no idea what it could be, if you have any ideas they would be greatly appreciated, that way I know what to tell the guys at the dealership. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
That's the "phantom wipe" and its been a hot topic in the past. I believe the switch in the stalk was bad. There was a TSB on this for the 97's and 98's. Not sure about later models.

What Hobbit said is correct. Happened to me after I had read about it here. Took it to the dealer and they didn't bat an eye. They knew the problem. Changed out the multi- function switch.

My '99 had the phantom wipe. Dealer didn't even try to duplicate it. They just installed a new multi-function switch, no questions asked.
