Angry Wiring help for Pop&Lock remote tailgate latch

I've been trying all afternoon to get a Pop&Lock remote tailgate lock wired to my truck. Two things.
ONE - The instructions call for tapping into the wiring in the doorjam between the door and body. Lousy place. Can't fish a wire through the kick plate by the emergency brake with all the brackets and ***** crammed under there. yes, I've pulled off all the covers and things that I can. Is there a better place to make the connections?
TWO - The instructions say to splice into the pink/yellow stripe and pink/light green stripe wires. I did and tested the assembly before I installed. The power locks on the truck didn't work and the solenoid on the latch didn't either. I've tried their website (no technical info or phone #'s).

Any idea if I've tapped into the right wires and how to test the solenoid to see if it works? Thx.

StrongWind, When testing make sure you hit the unlock button on the drivers door or if your using the remote you need to hit it twice to unlock. I was able to tap into the correct wire under the door sill plate by the drivers seat pilar "B". The wires I used were pink/orange to unlock and pinkk/black to lock. Hope this helps.

Thumbs up

MN-Trap,
I was finally able to get to the remote tailgate lock this weekend. The wiring you reccommended was correct and much easier to install. Everything works great.
Thx again for the help!
