I was disconnecting my wires on the distributor to check the connections and make sure things were clean. Now, even though I know the firing order for the 4.9L inline 6 engine, I can't seem to get the plugs in the correct order (or the right posts). What am I missing here?

Is it possible that you didn't get all the wires pushed all the way down on the cap? You should hear a "click" when the wire is seated properly.
