I have a 400 watt Vector inverter that runs a notebook and GPS. It runs off the power point (cigarette lighter) It worked great until yesterday when I accidentally shorted the 12 volt leads going to the inverter. Now I can't find the in-line fuse. The fuse in the box under the hood is OK but no power to the power point. 98 F-250 LD

Weadjust: You are on the right track. The inverter should be hardwired. The lighter socket does not furnish enough current to the inverter when my computer battery is low and the inverter trips off line on low voltage. If you have the trailer tow there is a switched 30 amp circuit going to the trailer electrical plug at the rear. I am thinking about adding a relay under the hood and take power directly from the big fuse by the starter solenoid.
