Post no c/c, no horn, airbag indicator stays on......

I need some help pls. Just purchased truck and have no cruise control,no horn and airbag light stays on(i'm assuming the air bag error is the drivers side). seems that all errors are related to the wiring in the steering wheel. Previous owner did out 3" lift kit on truck. I have checked all the associated fuses and relays for these items and all seem to be working fine. If anyone else has experienced this problem after a body lift or just have insight on this problem even if it is not related to the lift. pls HELP!!!

Do you know if they done anything to the steering wheel or any thing that conects to it as they may have forgoten to conect a conector in the harness some where do you know if the truck was in a wreck or not and if they installed a new air bag if in a wreck they done something since most everything you talk about is in the steering wheel.

Cool

Did you check to see if the airbag is actualy there? If the airbag was removed there needs to be a resister put in the circuit where the airbag was installed to turn the light off. If the plug was just disconnected that may have the power for the horn and cruise in it also.

Thanks for the responses, I'm going to drop the truck off at the dealer and hope they can fix it. Hope the lift kit doesn't create a problem as far as the warranty.

Question

I too have the same problem as stangman. My truck has never been wrecked or lifted. The airbag is still in place but I have all the same symtoms. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is and the cure for it?

No horn, no cruise, air bag light on, fuses all ok? Wiring harness for clockspring is ok? Replace clockspring.

nitro nailed it. I have seen alot of these with less than professional work been done to them. The clockspring has to be centered when the wheel is centered or it WILL break. Sometimes they break on their own, but nine times out of ten clockspring failures are caused by some one disconnecting the lower steering joints and turning the wheel independantly from the steering gear or vise-versa. My guess is with the lift, they had to disconnect the joint at the steering box and rotated the wheel and broke it. I have also seen a couple where someone "aligned" the steering wheel by taking it off and rebolting.. Of course this messes up the location of the spring in comparison to the actual center of the steering. (be sure that the wheel turns an equal amount each way from center)

Thanks for the prompt response. Do either of you have any idea as to how much this Clockspring costs, and could I put it on myself? I have been a aircraft mechanic for some many years and am also into electronic repair so if it isn't too difficult I'd like to try it myself. You can Email me at minehunter@rmci.net Thanks again, Bob..
