wheres the retaining pin
It's on the bottom of the ignition housing about 1 1/2" from the back of the ears that you turn the ignition with. Be sure to have the ignition in the on or run position. Use an ice pick or simular sharp tool to push the pin in. If you will watch closely, you can see the ignition move slightly when you contact the pin. Once you push it in, it will stay in until you turn it to the off position. One other note. I'm not certain about the F150's of that year, but for sure on Explorers, they had a different ignition housing that you could not see the pin hole. The way it was made you just can't see it. Part of the housing blocks it's veiw, but it's there. You will need a probe with a slight bend to get to it. And it's hard to explain exactly where it is. It's a real pain to find the first time.
