Question Which wire from dimmer switch?

I want to wire up my aftermarket gauges so that I can control their brightness along with the dash lights. I'm assuming I should tie into a 12V wire coming from the dimmer switch and going to the dash lights. Before I start probing with my meter, I was wondering if this wheel has already been invented.

Thanks

I don't know much about elec. stuff, but it might be easier to use the dimmer wire off of your stereo- I'll look up which wire it is if that's helpful

I thought I had it right here - I don't. I'll put the wire info on tomorrow. I want to say it's the orange one, but it'd be best to wait
