Need Help.. Now! Electrical

What would cause all the gauges, lights, accessories and head lights to stay on, even once the key is removed and the truck is off?!?!?!?!?!
I have done the removing of the hot battery terminal to reset it and that don't work...
Could it be in the ignition key tumbler?
And if so, how do I get into that to fix it?

Help it is a Holiday weekend and everything is closing or closed...

I looked everywhere for something that might give me a clue, and the only thing I found so far was that the Neg. terminal cable on the battery is some what cracked at the bottom, may need to have a new terminal end placed on it, but it is working. The gauges and all are going to kill the battery by morning I know...

It's not the key that is only the lock part. The switch is somewhere behind the knee trim panel by the steering colum. Make sure you disconnect the neg cable from the battery and wait a few minutes so the air bag can't be tripped.

The key operates a rod that goes to the electrical switch. that rod might be out of whack but it is probably the switch itself.

If you disconnect the battery it won't go dead on you, then you can work on it in the daylight. Might even be suprised and find the switch at the auto parts stort-that is where I got my daughter's for her caravan.

Oh btw the removal and testing procedure is covered in the Haynes book.

Good luck.

Thanks... I will start there this morning after I have a mug of coffee...

I wonder if it could be on the left side knee panel, I did have some water leak in around that area during a rain storm yesterday...

No the ign switch is behind the knee panel as posted above.

If you have water in the left kick panel, chances are you have a windshield leak, and the GEM is soaked.

The GEM is bolted to the back of the cab fuse panel.

If you search for GEM in this forum and the 97-03 forum, you will find quite a few posts on the topic.

You need to un bolt the cab fuse panel, and remove the connectors, and check both the male and female connectors for corrosion.

Also drying them out might help.
