Question FogLights W/O Headlights

I have a 99 F150 and I can't figure out how to modify the foglights so that they will come on without the headlights being on. I tried what FedExPilot said to do but the light switches have been changed between 99 and 2000. Mine has 3 plugs in it and the 2000 has only 2 plugs.

I've got a 2000, and mine has the 2 plugs, but you don't need to modify the plugs... jsut modify the switch. There's some other posts on this subject, not too long ago either. I modded my switch with no problem... just need to glue the face plate back on.

I already modified the switch. It has to do something with the wiring too.

Thumbs up

On my 2000, I had two plugs at the back of the swithch assembly. I did the 'cutting of the plastic ramp' modification but that in itself wouldn't allow the fogs to come on without the headlights. I had to additionally splice wire #2 and 12 together on the larger harness/plug assembly. Everything works like I want it to now.

See I have read all of the other information about the 2000 model. But I have the 1999 model which is different. I need to know the wires to connect to each other on my model with the 3 plugs.

See if this helps you. My 2000 came with no driving lights so I got an aftermarket set. It was really easy to hook them up. Basically to light up a bulb in a car you need the ground wire and the hot wire. What I did with my lights was to connect them in a way that they turn on with the parking lights. So I got the always on power from the battery, ground, and turn on for the relay from the wire the feeds the power to the parking lights. The only thing about this set up is that the lights will not turn off when the hi beams are on, but I really don't care about that.

Try www.bmgsite.com/truck/page3
Click on the foglights w/o headlights link.
Thanks to FedExPilot and myself, there are perfectly detailed pictrues and instructions.
You have to jump 2 wires on the plugs. It tells which ones on the site. Good luck.

The99F150Man...
You're welcome, I hope it helped... you didn't say whether or not you managed to get it done.

Sure, maybe we could hook up one day, 'cept I would probably just be green with envy 'cause you have a '99 with a 5.4 and 4 doors (instead of three) Why oh why couldn't they have put 4 doors on the '97 ?

Question

Hey guys, I just bought a 2000 Roush f150

it has a seperate switch for the fog lights on the right side of the steering wheel level w/ the headlight ****

but like my 98 f150 it automatically switches off in any postion other than lowbeam

Has anyone modded this to allow the fog lights to be on in any position?

Any leads to performing this mod?

Thank you for you time
RickC

After reading through this whole thread, I noticed that the foglights on my '97 F250 behave exactly opposite. Perhaps the former owner modified them so I'll need to check into it.

Here's what mine do.

Foglights come on (either with the automatic switch or when in lowbeam) when the foglamp switch is pushed in. When you pull it out to turn them on (like the label says), they go off. If you pull the switch out even further, they come on again.

Does it sound like it's been modified (before I pull it apart) or perhpas the switch is going bad? Anyone else see this with theirs?
