Post hot disc message

Wondering if anyone has seen this before? At the tail end of a 3 hour drive, my cd player ejected the cd and "hot disc" was on the radio display. When I reached down to remove the cd, I felt the head unit and it was very hot. The truck is a 2000 model and only has 2000 miles on it. According to Ford, my truck has the "premium" am/fm with cd. (in dash cd, no changer). I had been playing the radio at 85% of max volume for about 1.5 hours. This does not seem right to me, would appreciate any input.

I have also noticed my CDs are warm after prolonged use (normal)..however..I have never had the message "hot disc" show up on my display (I have the same system as you). So far..my factory CD player has never ejected a CD on its own.

Interesting...if you find out any info on this (dealer?)..please post it.

Exclamation

This has been discussed in at least one other thread. Try the 'search' function on a couple of key words over the last 6 months.

I had mine eject a cd once on a long trip and seen the hot cd message displayed it happened in the spring when I was in Utah on vacation thats the only time I ever had it eject a cd for being hot and this was after driving all day for about 7 or 8 hours of driving when it happened.

Cool

Running the A/C through the dash vents helps keep the H/U cool.
