Problem starting
Hi Folks,
I'm asking this question for a friend of mine who is experiencing problems starting his F150. He has a '97 F150 with a V8. I'm not sure as to the exact size of the engine, though.
Anyway, the only way he can start his truck is by using jumper cables. When he puts the key in the ignition nothing turns on, not even the headlights or the radio. After using jumper cables and starting the engine, it runs fine, and the volt gauge indicates everything is normal.
I believe the battery is no good since nothing electrical turns on (such as headlights or radio) when the key is placed in the ignition. However, I am not exactly sure since the volt gauge indicates everything is normal.
Any opinions or ideas?
Thanks for any help. Take care.

Okay. It's a '97 and your profile says you're in Texas. I'm assuming the truck is also in Texas? We're talking about a 3 to 4 year old truck in a hot place. Sounds like a bad battery or loose battery clamp to me. My money is on bad battery. Heat's a killer.

I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPEN WITH YOUR TRUCK. WAS IT THE BATTERY OR WHAT WAS IT. MY TRUCK STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING THIS MORNING.BUT COULD NOT GET IT JUMP STARTED UNTIL I TOOK OF THE RELAY FOR THE POWER WINDOWS. AFTER THAT IT WORK. THE REASON THAT I TOOK IT OUT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE.
