Post Instrument Cluster Backlights

I have a 98 XLT supercab 4.6/manual/3.55 etc

after about 9 months old a single backlight in the cluster went out, it wasnt really that noticeble or bothersome I thought nothing of it. about another 9 months 2 more went out. long story/short version I am now down to like 1 or maybe 2 and I can only see the critical areas of my speedo anyone had similar problems, if so what kind of bulbs are needed and how much trouble are they to put in (ie owuld I be better off getting the white faced glow kit I want if Im gonna have to rip the dash apart anyways)

It is possible that with one light out, the others get a little more current, thus burn out faster. I would replace all of them since you are digging into the dash. Make sure that you don't touch the bulb. My parents had an Aerostar with the electronic dash. The dealer replaced the bulb several time and each time it would burn out soon afterwards. The finally figured out that you aren't supposed to touch the bulb and that one lasted the life of the van.

Oh I definitely recommend getting the indiglo gauge set-up. I tried taking a bulb out just for kicks when I was setting up my indiglos and couldn't. They're really stuck inside. you have to seriously dig in for them. You'll understand once you see where they are.

Go to ebay and you could get an indiglo gauge starting at $59!! Not only will you have white gauges by day, but you'll love the light at night!!
