Question Alarm: How does it work?

Just got my new F-150 XLT but there were no instructions with the alarm and I can't find any info on Chapman on the web. I really don't wanna **** of my neighbors "testing" it.

I'm assuming I push the Arm button once to lock the doors and twice to activate the alarm...?

Just how do the buttons work?

Cool

First you said Chapman Ford, do you live in the Philly area?
Second do you have the keyless entry remote. If so that’s all you have when you press the button on the fob twice its just telling you the doors are locked. One way you can check you don’t have an alarm is to set in the truck, lock the doors with the fob, and then open a door. Nothing should sound if all you have is keyless entry.
Third the theft light on the gauge panel is only a theft deterrent it has nothing to do with an alarm system.
I have the ford system 4 alarm system and mine sounds twice on activation and once when deactivated.

Hope this helps

Question

Thanks Firezap. I just had the alarm and remote keyless entry installed so I know they're there!

I just don't know how the remote works since there were no instructions. [And I feel stupid for not asking the dealer...]

There are two buttons, "Arm and "Disarm." Using the buttons how do I: lock & unlock the doors, activate and deactivate the alarm?

BTW: The "Chapman" I was referring to was the brand of the Alarm system. [Chapman 450]

Cool

The best thing I can think of is either go back to the dealer or request an owners manual from the company.

if your alarm is like mine you press the arm button once for a "silent" lock, twice if you want a confirmation (horn honks) lock.

either way when you use the fob to lock your doors the alarm is activated, its just that one push is a silent activation for areas that you do not want to attract attention to yourself, and push twice in the event that you want to KNOW it locked with the confirmation horn honk. But either way the alarm is activated.

to disarm you press the disarm once and that does it.
