Fuse 8 keeps blowing
1994 F150 300 inline six. Two wheel drive extended cab. Fuse 8 keeps blowing on and off for the last month. Someone at ford told me that dome lights had been shorting out. They said that wire was touching metal roof and blowing that fuse. Moved wire and wrapped it with electrical tape and still blowing fuse. I found online that fuse 8 was overloading possible short in circuit 54. Anyone knows what that means or have suggestions?
Does fuse 8 control courtesy lights? If so, and you have a lighted vanity mirror on the visor, look at the wire right where the metal rod of the visor connects to the headliner. The wire there can sometimes lose it's insulation from flexing, and cause a short that's hard to find, since road vibration and visor use affect it. If that's it, simple to fix by pulling visor, pop out mirror light covers to get at screws to pull mirror assembly, replace length of wire with a splice inside visor, other splice push up into headliner. We have had to re-use the inline one-pin connector, couldn't find another. Solder and tape make a better smaller splice than crimp-on here.
