Question Headlight Bulb Replacement

Has anyone replaced a headlight bulb on their 1997 F150 SC? It looks like two retaining clips must be removed and then the entire headlight lens assembly pulls out from the front.

Lightbulb

Hi Rich,

You're on the right track. Pull up on the two black retaining brackets to release the headlight assembly. You can push on the threaded bolts going through the bracket from behind while wiggling the front of the headlight housing to work it out of the brackets alittle and it will soon become loose and come right out. I believe you only need to pull out the passenger side housing alittle to get to the bulb socket..the drivers side should be accessable without dissassembly. The bulb sockets unscrew counter clockwise about 1/4 turn and come right out. Also dont put to much pressure on the little platic retaining clips that hold the plug to bulb element because they are fragile and will break..like mine did..lol..so be careful. Its a piece of cake! Hope i could help you

Thumbs up

Thanks Jason. Your advice was right on the money. I replaced both bulbs in less than five minutes. Now if only the spark plugs were this easy......

Thanks again, Rich
