Thumbs up Thanks

I signed up just to say thanks, you saved me a lot of headache and money, with this post. It took me less than 30 seconds to find it on my 02 F150. And again thanks for the post.

I've had my truck for a couple years now and assumed it was useless to worry about the keyless entry. Nice to find the code was by my feet the whole time. Worked great...big 5 digit number on a sticker on a box up under the dash to the left. Haven't tried reprogramming it yet.

Use a flashlight!
Thank you so much for this info. I found it in that exact spot. Bob Moore Ford in OKC wanted $55 dollars for a computer hookup to tell me this code. I hate crooked dealers.

BTW I found this using google, so no matter how old the post is, there are people still searching and needing the info. Thanks again.

You're lucky, most of the dealers want about an hours labor to hook up and retrieve. At about $100. an hour labor rate, I think you can do the math. $55. is either a cheap hours labor rate in Ok. or they were being charitable to you!

No, the labor rate is $100 an hour, they just wanted to charge at least 30min labor to hook it up. They knew the code was in the location under the dash. Typical dealerships trying to screw people.

Don't be too sure of this, dealer techs are at a lost about a lot of these types of short cuts.

Yep, I started to say that. I have been amazed at how much I know about my truck that the techs and service writers don't know. I have had to explain lots of stuff to them. One parts guy refused to sell me a keypad handle as he said there was no way it would work on my truck.

Having worked for dealerships for a lot of years, I can attest to the truth of that. ^^^^^^^ On the other hand, a lot of the parts guys know how to tap the computer keys and that's about it. You are fortunate that you have a good dealer, Blue, a lot of them will take your money and still leave you with no remedy and no answers because of their incompetency.
You said when they got your KE to work that they said they found a ground that wasn't hooked up at the VSM. Do you have any further info to add to that? I have been working on mine recently (some custom stuff, my candy) and there is only one ground on the VSM. It wouldn't work in any function (it has many) without a ground. I even popped the guts from the case and definitely only one ground. Just wondered if that was a fabrication to cover the fact that he got it working, and didn't know what he did to make it so. :o

Just helped my son buy his first truck. Wholesale dealer didnt have the code. I looked under the dash where my left toes would be. I didnt see any box or code. Does this method hold true for the newer body style 04?

If it's a Supercrew, you have to remove the back of the rear seat to expose the Body Control Module. Sould be a sticker on that module.
