Help!! Keyless Entry Problems
Hey guys, I just installed a stereo in my 2000 F150. It came w/factory keyless entry, and after the stereo install, it stopped working. I immediatley checked some fuses (because I disconnected battery for install), but they all looked ok. I even went as far as to reinstall the factory stereo, thinking it may have something to do with K.E., but no help.
Any ideas, the truck only has 90 miles on it. I read the manual and went thru the "Reprogramming Key Fobs", but it didn't work
like the manual said it would! Also, why would I get a "touch pad code" when I don't even have touch pad on my door?

check the antenna and make sure it is tight. the keyless uses the stereo antenna and it makes sense that right after the new stereo connect, you may have gotten something loose, etc. Also don't forget the fuses under the hood.

Thanks for the reply seacrow.
I think the antenna is ok because I'm pulling in stations better than ever w/ the new deck.
I'll try the procedure outlined in the owners manual again. Last time I only had one fob with me in the cab, should have had both. The dealer said if that doesn't work, I have to bring it in and reprogram the "GEM" module? He says all sorts of things happen when you unhook the battery!?!?

Hey DynoDan,
You may want to double check all of your connections "again". Just a previously stated by Seacrow. The antenna may be just the slightes bit loose, eventhough you're picking up radio stations quite well. It really sounds to me like a loose or bad connection, because it wasn't doing it before the install.
Also, you may want to try draining your boards (battery). Just disconnect the negative side and put your headlights in the "ON" position. The lights won't come on of course, but it will drain your boards (memory). So if there was a gliche, it will start(re-learn) like it was new when the battery's connected. Leave it disconnected for at least 15 to 20 minutes, then hook the battery back up. Turn off the light switch first, before re-connecting. I don't know if this is really going to help, but since it's electrical, wouln't hurt.
Welcome aboard....

No luck, I have tryed all the above mentioned suggestions......arrrgghh. I even went thru the trouble of reinstalling the factory deck, antenna and all, but no luck.
Dealer said to bring it in if the procedure in the owners manual (programming fobs) didn't work. Maybe the GEM module took a dump?
Thanks guys,
