Plugs/Wires to Nowhere
Plugs/Wires to Nowhere
Was getting ready to put my switch in, took the cigarette lighter bezel off and I ran into this.

What the Heck...Really wanted to put my switch in this location, but have plugs and wires here for something, that go to nothing. Any Ideas?

I believe those are plugs are for the TCS and Parking Aid switches. If you decide to remove those plugs I could use them. I think you could unplug them, let tape them up and drill thru the plug holders. You might be able to tap into those plug wire harness for your switches. I bought the factory TCS and Parking aid switches and was going to use them for my Aux lights. Here is the thread, it might help you ID the wires to tap into.

Take a look at

Blackf150337 has a 05 and no plugs with wires attached to his bezel. So either the model year has something to do with it or maybe the type of package you got on the truck.

I dont believe TCS was an option in 05(didnt see it in the owners manual) but the Parking aid was. The bezel in my pic has a part number starting with 7 on it. I can tell you that the TCS switch (left) needs/takes 6 pins/wires and Parking switch(right) has 5 pins/wires.
Unplug from the bezel and look. Perhaps its a grounding receptacle? Seems odd that they would engineer a "plug holder".
Check SScully's Album(awesome source of schematics), look at the TCS and Parking Aid(PAM)switch schematics note the wiring colors and compair.

On my '06 Lariat ( flow through console ) I have the wires for the TCS and PAM. A XLT trim level might not have them.
This is along the lines of the wiring harness inclusion in the 97-03, some model years had everything, others had only what was required. Don't know if this was a change in general or if the harness change was based upon what options where ordered when the truck was built.
My '01 XLT had the harness for everything I looked for ( illuminated visors, door handle keypad & Turn signals in the power mirror connectors come to mind ) but I ordered it with heated power captain seats, 6 CD in the console, heated power mirrors and the RKE. Might have had enough options as a XLT that the factory just used a Lariat harness in it ?
Both of my trucks were built in MI ( 80% sure the 01 was ).
This is all a SWAG, I cannot find a source to know what harness is used for what trim level ( and options ) in what MY, and at what factory.
