Towing (electric stuff)

Hi, I have 2005 FX4 and I have bean pulling atv trailers since day 1.

I'm now ordering a yamaha boat with its trailer and an enclosed trailer. These 2 are huge and I need to put the electrical connctions up which I havent done before.

First thing do I have a towing package? what comes with this package? I have a the receiver at the back, does this mean I have the package?

Secondaly, is it plug and play? do I need to do something to make the lights run ?

Lastly, the trailer will have its own braking system. Do I need to install a brake controler to make the trailer brake work or they are just meant for managing the braking system?

Thanks in advance

If you have the 4 pin & 7 pin trailer tow connectors, the 7 pin is what you are going to need with the electric brakes.

The lights, electric brakes and the trailer tow battery charge, you should check that the relays and fuses are installed.

There is a thread in the towing and hauling forum with this information

The trailer's electric brakes, you will need a brake controller.
