1997 f150 power window problem
Power window blows fuse as soon as the key is turned. Before I even hit the switch to operate the windows it blows. both windows quit working at the same time and are stuck open. Thanks in advance. Would a bad switch cause this? Any ideas, all help appreciated.

I would suspect a short to ground prior to the switch.
1. Pull the fuse for the power windows.
2. test the fuse slot for power.
2.1. One side will have power
2.2. The other side will not, this is to the side towards the switch.
3. Test the fuse slot side towards the switch to ground.
- Make SURE this is the side of the fuse slot towards the switch, else you will blow a fuse upstream.
I would suspect the short to ground to be in the door to a-pillar harness, take the boot off, and check the light blue w/ black stripe wire for any damage to the insulation. Could also be in the door, or under the dash ( not likely ).
