Horn Mods ?

Well I finally had to use my '09 horn or at least I tried to . By the time I used a great force, pushed down far enough , at just the right place, the danger was past !! Is there any way to modify it so it works as it should [like my '03 ] ?? Can that cover be taken off without compromizing the airbag ?

If this is an 09, it should be under warranty and the dealer should play with it. You CAN work on this area yourself (I've had the wheel off on mine), but the airbag made me VERY nervous! You just need to have the battery disconnected for about 15 minutes as I recall to discharge everything.

But again, if it's under warranty and there's a switch problem, let the dealer fix it!

Dealer explained how to operate horn . You don't push "horn" you push the corners of the steering wheel center !

I think I finally understand - you were pushing the horn pad right in its "middle", which means you have to use a pretty hefty push to get past spring resistance. Whereas, pushing on a corner of the pad (to tilt it) with your thumb is pretty easy, right?

I honestly would not be embarrassed by this. I suspect many people would try to honk the horn by pushing the center of the pad, and the spring is very "stiff". I usually bang it with my fist when I want a short "toot".
