my windshield wipers don't work also interior lights don't work, my mechanic says he called ford and the electrical box in question has been discontinued. My mechanic also thinks an electrical box from a junk yard will not work because it needs programing he can't do or something like that.Does any one know if all this is true,and what the fix would be?

Your mechanic does not know what he is talking about.

The GEM is designed for a set of features, there are only so many types of it, and it is not done via programming at install.

Check with one of the online parts dealers, they would be able to get you an answer if the GEM has been discontinued or if it has a new Part Number.
