Need help with factory keyless remote...

The damn thing just stopped working. Never gave any signs of a problem. Tried changing the battery, nothing. Could someone tell me how to go about finding out if it is the remote that crapped out or the module on the truck itself. Thanks.

1. Do the power door locks work from the button on the door ?

2. Did you check the fuses, if so which ones ?

3. Did you try another remote ?

4. What happens when you try to program the RKE fob to the truck ?

Whoa!!!
I can unlock the doors with the keypad on the door and the unlock buttons. Need to look in the manual for what fuse it is, only have the one remote, and how do you program the fob. I didn't think I would have to do that since I have been useing it since I bought the truck.

So we have confirmation that the door locks themselves are working ( don't want to assume that the RKE not opening them is not a PDL problem ).

Checking the fuses is a good thing to start with when something electrical is not working. Better than assuming the RKE fob battery was dead.

The fuse locations for the CSM ( Central Security Module ) are :
BJB ( aka Battery Junction Box, Engine Compartment fuse panel ) fuse # 115 for the Supercrew or fuse #8 for all other cab configurations.

CJB ( aka Central Junction Box, cab fuse panel ) fuses # 29 & 15

The how to program the RKE fob is in the owners manual

Trying to program the RKE fob is one step in the problem determination steps. If it was working you would not have to do this.

Thanks scully, I will check the fuses. If the fuses are good I guess I will try buying a new remote and programming it.

Well, just figured out the problem. Will be ordering a new key fob tonight. Not quite sure how it happened but the circuit board inside the fob has a small crack in it. If I manipulate it just right, the fob works. Go figure!!
