heated power mirrors?
heated power mirrors?
Ok guys I was looking to find out if anybody else has done this yet or not. The only option my truck does not have is heated mirrors with the turn signals. They do have power though. If I get my hands on a set of heated ones is the harness there or close that I need? I know its not cost effective to have 6 different wiring harness in trucks. Are the pigtails there that I will need or no? I know for instance that my work truck came with 2 speaker set up and the wiring for the back 2 were there I just had to find them. Is this the case too? Thanks in advance.
You will have to take the mirror off to confirm.
Not sure what trim level you were dealing with, or if the E series is the same as the F series or if audio is the same as the electrical items.
A lot of the XLTs only have part of the harness ( fog lamps for example ).

The other problem you have is the heated mirror control is to the HVAC panel, which means either removing the wires from the clam connectors or purchasing a new HVAC control panel with the heated mirror switch on it.
If you do not have the wires ( which will make things easier ), you can get the pins for the connector from a bone yard, and add them to the connector, to run to the turn signals under the steering wheel column and adding the wires to an external heated source with a timer relay.

I have heated turn signal mirrors from a '09 on my '05. the turn signals work, but the heated mirrors do not. If I buy the heated rear window heat control, will the heated mirrors work? Or will I have to move some pins around?
Thanks, but I looking for plug and play info. I want to find out if the pin locations are the same for a '05 to '09 swap.

The pin locations are not the same for the 05 and the 09 MY.
The 2004-2006 mirrors have the same wiring, and the 07 + MY have the same wiring, so at the very least you will need to move some wires.

Depending on the trim level you might not have the circuit for the heated mirrors, so you very well might need to add the pins for these, as posted above. This is just to get the wires into the truck.
Not sure where you got there is a "heated rear window heat control" of any kind, this is built into the HVAC control panel ( either the EATC or EMTC version ) . You would need to order the new HVAC panel for the type you have ( Auto or Manual ), which is in the 275.00 to 375.00 range depending on the options on the HVAC control panel.
Best route is to move the correct pins to make the 09 mirrors work on the 05 ( the turn signals might look to work, but there will be a problem with them ) and add the pins for the heat option ( if not installed ) and wire these to a off delay relay like the ELK-960 series with a momentary switch to trigger it.

You can also wire the heaters into an older Ford rear defrost switch with the timer circuit built in, for a factory look at a fraction of the cost. Most pre-'97 switches will work.

The closest thing I find for 108 ( not including shipping ) is
Dash control unit, f150, mark lt, w/o atc, w/ac, w/rear defroster - f150 new style 2004-08, mark lt - F150 NEW STYLE 2004-08, MARK LT
You will not have the status indicators with this setup at the very least.
I do not have the heated rear glass, so the status indicator is the switch for my mirrors.
You could try this to see if it would work, not 100% sure myself, but this is a new EMTC HVAC control panel, not an additional item. The price I was recalling was for the heated seat versions.
The status indicator does what? The switch has the rear defrost function and is in the middle of the a/c and recircutae feature correct? Isn't this the indicator button also? Sorry if this is reduntant.
Shows when they are turned on ( the mirrors turn themselves off ), so you know if they are not clear, to turn the button on again. Similar to the heated seats.
This is what the 2005 Owners Manual shows ( Item #3 )

I have the EATC panel, so my heated mirrors are by the fan speed control up / down buttons.
I can only guess it would work correctly, don't know for sure. You would have to wire it up to the instrument cluster to see if it works the same.
