power mirrors go 3 of 4 ways

alright on the 03 F150 i just bought the power mirrors only go 3 of the 4 directions on both sides. I am not where the truck is right now so I am not sure of which directions but I do know that both sides go both up and down its just each doesnt adjust one direction left or right. Any ideas what could be causing this?

thanks patman. sorta what i was thinking. if they are both not moving the same way then its probably the switch not making a good connection in that direction? i'll have to wait and see to take a look at it this weekend. anyone know of any good how to's or write ups on how to take that part of the door apart?

I just bought an 01' and mine are doing the same thing. I know the driver's side will not move to the right, can't remember about the pass. side. Its not a big issue for me so I probably won't even mess with it.

To get to the power mirror switch, the switch panel removal is the same as the 04-08 MY ( spring clips and tabs ). I forget where the spring clips were on my '01 right now. I want to say on the front ( point towards the front ) and the tab is under the armrest, but I can only say this 60% sure.

If you do find an answer in threads here, you can download the directions for your truck from Muth ( mfgr of signal mirrors ). www.kwmuth.com, enter the truck info ( Make, Model, trim, cab, MY, etc ) and on the products page are the directions in PDF format. You only need the directions for the switch panel, no need to remove anything else.

Once you have the switch panel off, and the switch out, you can test it.

thanks from me too. I was about to ask the same question about my 03.

I will say you don't have to remove the door panel to get to the switch, the panel the mirror, door and window switches are on just pops off.
