Reverse lights / Tempertature Control
Reverse lights / Tempertature Control
Hey guys, I have a 1997 F-150 4x4 4.2LV6 5Spd and I really need to get it inspected, but what kind of mechanic passes a truck that doesn't have funtioning reverse lights?
Honestly I have no idea where the issue is other than that it's not the bulbs.
I assume that it's under the dash somewhere because when the reverse lights don't work, my temperature control dial doesn't work either. Any help on finding the issue, greatly appriciated, thanks.

How did you verify it is not the bulb ?
Did you check the fuse for the reverse lamps ?
What does "temperature control dial doesn't work" mean ( no blower, no heat, only works on high, etc )

bulbs are both good because I pulled them out and looked, and the voltmeter says there is no voltage at the socket.
The fuse is good, pulled and checked it out.
Sorry for being vague on the temp system. The only dial that doesn't work is the hot/cold dial which is stuck on heat (luckily).
The only reason I know that the blend door actuator isn't bad is because this problem was intermittent until recently when it just stopped working all together and when the reverse lights wouldn't work, you couldnt get cold air out of the vents, also the AC clutch coil is on the same circuit and it isn't kicking either.

I PUT IN A NEW RELAY THE OTHER DAY FOR MY BACKUP LIGHTS TO COME ON WITH MY 'EXTRA' BACKUP LIGHTS. AFTER I HOOKED IT UP INCORRECTLY THE HEATER WAS STUCK ON AND NONE OF THE LIGHTS WORKED. I HAD TO FIND A FUSE IN THE FUSE PANEL BY YOUR LEFT KNEE (WHEN SITTING IN THE TRUCK) WHICH WAS OUT. I REPLACED IT, AND THE HEATER NOW GOES OFF I.E. BLOWS COOL AIR. THE BACKUP LIGHTS STILL DO NOT WORK. THERE IS STILL NO VOLTAGE AT THE SOCKET TO THE BACKUP LIGHTS ON BOTH SIDES....NO CLUE WHAT I SCREWED UP/SHORTED OUT/BURNED UP. ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS?
THANKS!
dAVE
Can you post some info on your truck, or complete your profile.
