Drive-by-Wire
I don't really understand your question. The throttle is definitely computer controlled, and that fits the definition of "drive by wire". The brakes are ABS, which means you should not be able to "lock them up" no matter how hard you push, but, there's still a direct linkage there in case "power" braking or electrical power is lost.

Didn't understand the question ? Well you answered it perfectly ! BTW I don't like the ABS brake pedal shuddering which is normal in Fords they say. My '03 didn't do it.
My question comes from all the Toyota [and others] discussion about drive by wire.

I had a new '99, '02 and the '04 that I currently have, all with ABS and I have never had a brake shudder with any of those or anything else I've ever had that had ABS. Whoever told you a brake shudder is normal on Ford is probably wrong about other things too. (nicer than saying FOBS) Have an interesting article on the "uncommanded acceleration". I refuse to call it "stuck throttle", which it isn't.

Nothing wrong with either of them. There is though, something wrong with the engineers that deny there is a problem because they can't duplicate it in a few hours or a day of testing. (uncommanded acceleration) I have seen it personally many years ago with an Audi and a Mercedes 190.
