I'm going to move this to the electrical forum, since I think that's where it belongs.

Just as a point of clarification though, you ARE talking about the device that opens the vehicle doors, right? Not the ignition key itself.

If it's the Fob, I suppose you could try. If not, extra ones that you CAN program are not TOO expensive.

There's an excellent how to thread on the entire PATS system that should answer your question and give nstructions. It's been running here the past few days in the 'new posts' section. Find it, read it.

Could require 2 steps.

1. the RKE ( Remote Keyless Entry ) fob is already programed to your truck.
If you want to de-program it, gather the remaining RKE fobs, and program them to your truck ( again ). When you enter programming mode, it erases all RKE fobs programmed to the truck, and starts over clean.

2. Use the process to program the RKE fob to the Explorer ( could be the same, could be different, verify in the Owners Manual ). Remember to have all the RKE fobs when you enter programming mode.

Hope this is what you were asking about, if not I assumed the wrong answer to Jack's question.

Got the car used but only received a key, no remote.

Ive been doing research online and the 2006 taurus SE comes with keyless entry standard.

I tried programming the autolock feature but that wont even work. I simply cannot get into the programming mode. I already tried removing the negative terminal from the battery but no luck..

IF it will not do the autolock or enter programming mode, and you have tried this many times, I would say it is not equipped with it.

I have a post somewhat like this one, you gave me advice, it did not work. However my Ford guru, this advice you gave Blanco Lobo did. After reading about the sequence and the locks cycling a light bulb went off in my head, I thought i should try it and behold my key key now works. The original problem of a bad starter, i tried to start the engine and turned the key several times and it started and the locks cycled but i did not touch any buttons on the key fob at which point the key fob was de-programed. I just went out and re-programed it, working fine. I told you helicopters are so much easier to work on Thanks for your wisdom, I know who to look for in the future! Stay sharp sparky.
