2004 electrical issues

after spending alot of time searching the forums i have yet to find any answers. truck is an 04 lariat supercrew.

about 6 months ago i was having problems with my power door locks, they would lock no problem but i was unable to unlock from either side door button only with the remote. this happened for about a week then went a way and has worked fine since.

it may or may not help in trying to trouble shoot my current problem. now when i open either sides doors my interior lights do not come on automatically and my bed light only will not either. i can manually turn them on and my interior lights come on when i turn the enigine off still. also my radio does not shut off at all when i turn the truck off and open any doors. it will however still turn off it i shut the engine down and sit in the truck until it automatically turns off after 5 mins or whatever it is set to..

any suggestions or ideas would really help. thanks

Did you check the driver's side door sill for the 2 splice locations that can go bad ?

Mine just started doing this last night...but just the driver's side button. I hit the arm rest a couple times and it started to work. I'm guessing a bad switch in my case. I'm not sure if one switch goes out if it will take out both. I'm not sure how they are actually wired.

If you are posting about the power door locks, then no 1 switch going back should not disable the other one.
With the factory RKE, the power door lock switch is wired to the VSM, which operated the power door locks directly.

My door locks are not working with the key fob but will work when i sit in thetruck and use the buttons on the door. it is just the key fob and it is a fairly new one so i do not think the battery id bad (my original one does not work either) I was just looking at sscully's post and i remember reading about another issue like this on a forum last night and the person took out the VSM and it was wet and appearently shorted out, where is the VSM located? This may be my problem as well.
Thanks
