Need to replace a 2001 fog light...options?
Need to replace a 2001 fog light...options?
2001 F-150 4x4 XLT. A neighbor backed into my truck last night and it only broke the fog light and bent the bracket. I need to replace the whole thing. Should I order an OEM replacement? Anyone have a good source? Are there good aftermarket sets I could "upgrade" to? I'm already running the high beam bulbs rather than the factory H4's or whatever they are with the fog light mod. Thanks.
Easiest / cheapest to replace the 1 unit that is bad with a Ford unit.
I had the PIAA airdam on my 2001 ( did not have the factory fog lamps ) and it was nice having the 520 Ion Crystal as the fog lamps due to the reflector size. Also had the Piaa 510 driving lamps with the narrow focus beam pattern that were on with the high beams.
Don't know if you would want to try to find one, or use the ~120.00 from the 1 unit to fund this option ( used the airdam will cost about this, then add in the cost of the PIAA 520 lamps, and the 510 lamps if you add those also ).
Piaa stopped making the airdam ~2 years ago. You might still find one around somewhere used or that is buried in the back room at an accessory shop.
There are a few threads on this site with the pictures of it, this is a picture of my 2001 with the Piaa airdam & lightning grille & surround :

Don't know how cool he would be with you doing this, if he got the bill for ~ 120.00, then you show up with the PIAA unit. That is something you woudl have to decide / talk with him about.
The factory unit can be had at any Ford online parts dealer.
The trademotion catalog path is :
Collision Catalog :
2001 -> Ford -> F-150:
Front lamps -> Fog lamps -> Fog lamp assy -> W/bracket
right & left are different parts, MY range is 2001-2004 ( the 04 is the heritage trim ).
MSRP : 117.73
Price : 103.60 + S/H
You could also try a bone yard, but this is on your dime to search around for a used one.

Thanks man, my local stealership wants $130 +tax, Team Ford Parts wants $117 + shipping. I'll keep looking for a factory replacement, but thanks for the PIAA details. That's tempting.
