have you checked your voltage output on the 175amp fuses on the firewall?

Might be a dumb question, but where are the field fuses? How would i go about testing? Just test continuity? I checked fuse #23 in the driver's side fuse panel and also the 20A fuse on the firewall, they both checked out fine. The connector looks good as far as i can see. Thanks!

that 20amp on the firewall is located on the 175 fuse... there is one cable coming from the alternator and another going to the starter relay. put the multimeter on that cable coming from the alternator to see what voltage its putting out. also while running and testing this voltage, smack the alternator with something... if the voltage jumps up, bad brushes in alternator

Guys, thanks for all of your help. I installed a new alternator this morning and, so far so good. No more battery light. Have a great holiday!
