Question Wiring for auto shutoff?

OK, this might be a newbie-ish type question. I have a 2009 F150 XL. When you shut the truck off, the power stays on in the radio until the door is opened, or a few minutes passes. I'm assuming this is something with the accessory power.

My question is, besides the power running into the radio harness, is there another line I could splice into, or even better a completely empty fuse location, that has this same functionality?

I'd like to find it because I have some running lights I installed, and I would like to have them shut off automatically if I forget to turn them off. I also have a couple of other doodads I'd prefer not to have always on, sucking the battery dry.

Thanks....

I don't have the '09 F150 pinout, and I'm confident it's different from this, but yes: the LCM has several outputs that you could use.

If you have unused fuse positions, add terminals like this:

Again: yours is slightly different, but that's the procedure.

The accessory delay relay is what you are asking about.

The 2009 is a bit different than the 04-09, as some of the relays are now soldered into the SJB ( Smart Junction Box, or cab fuse panel ). I don't think this is one of them, but it could be ( would need to do a visual on this in your truck ).

The power to this relay is hot at all times, as well as the power to the coil. The ground is controlled by the SJB micro control circuit.

The power windows are controlled by the Accy Delay relay, as well as the radio, and the power door locks

The power door locks are on fuse F41

You could install an add-a-fuse into the power window slot to create another circuit to power a relay to the battery, so you can have a circuit that runs the other circuits you are talking about.

Not sure what running lamps you are talking about, this circuit would have the lights powered any time the truck is turned to the accy or run position.

Is that what you are looking for ?

Depending on what what you are talking about adding, there is the interior lamps, or exterior lamps on the truck, again these are controlled by the SJB in the 2009 MY trucks.

Awesome. That is what I was looking for.

Since I have a stripped F150, I wanted to add driving/fog lights to it. I installed a set of Hella Optilux (looks nice, I'll post pics eventually). The problem is that the very first night I left them on already. I thought it would be nice if I could have them time out.

I've already put an 'add-a-fuse' in the interior box for some of my audio gear. So I'm OK with that. I don't have power windows and locks so those locations are empty (for now).

Thanks...

If you are adding aux lamps, and don't want to leave them on, why not just use the parking lamp circuit as the power to the switch, going to the relay coil ?

This way they can only be on when the parking lamps are lit ( so you can't drive around in the daytime with your aux lamps on, sans parking lamps ).

Just a thought.

Also, if you want to take a look in the SJB, to see if the fog lamp relay is installed, this might get you closer to wirng them like factory if you wanted to

Or just simply wire them to a key ON power source rather than battery power.
