so having a couple wiring problems i think...
I have been having some problems with some stuff...i just havent had time to sit down and ask you guys yet. lol i didnt know if these were common problems or not.
so here we go...problem #1. My reverse lights dont always come on. sometimes they do, sometimes they dont. there seems to be no pattern on when they come on or not...i have tried going from park to reverse and drive to reverse...i couldnt find a pattern from either. so is this a sensor problem?
problem #2. the truck doesnt always start when i go to start it...i have to jiggle the gear shift and then start it. i am not sure what causes this either...thinking maybe a sensor also (possible the same sensor that controls the reverse lights??).
so let me know what yall think the problems might be. tell me of any ideas you guys might have. Thanks

I dont know if your year a has neutral safety switch or not but that might be part of the problem. They some times get out of adjustment and can be reset by putting the shifter in neutral and adjusting the switch to line up. There used to be an indexing hole that you you put a 1/8 bit into it to align it. That also may be why you have to jiggle the shifter to start. Also for the starting problem you might have a bad ignition switch in the column, a bad out of adjusted link rod. The neutral safety swirch is located at the bottom of the steering column.Hope this helps.
Does sound like the transmission range sensor is your problem. It is located at the manual lever on the transmission. You could try adjusting it. But with the problems being intermitant the sensor probable needs to be replaced.
This is only applicable to an auto trans, manual trans, no DTR sensor.
I will agree the DTR seems to be the problem by both issues.
Correct . It is on the trans where the cable connects to the trans. When I said manual lever I was referring to the lever on the side of the auto trans.
