Why do my tail lights and dashboard lights only go on when I brake?

I recently replaced one of the burned out tail lights. Then all of a sudden the interior dashboard lights, lighting on my shifter and brake lights do not light up unless I brake.

Explanations anyone?

Pull the new bulb you just installed, and see if the problem goes away.

I didn't think a new style bulb could be put in backwards, but back with the old bayonet style stop/tun/ tail bulbs, this would happen if the bulb was jammed in backwards ( pins on the side are staggered on the old bulb ).

Put some details about your truck in your profile &/or signature so we know what you're talking about.
