Voltage Regulator

I need some help figuring out how im going to use an Alternator without an internal voltage regulator. I have an external regulator but i do not now how to hook it up. is there anybody that can get me pointed in the right direction? It's on a 89 f150. Motor is a 302 out of a 69' mustang. this is the only thing that is keeping from driving it. i have had a few people tell me that i cannot do it with this truck.

First, I thought the 69 altenator had an internal regulator. Why would you want to change? Also, why not try to adapt the 89 altenator to the 69 engine.

becuase i dont have the money for the serpentine kit. and when you get the serpentine kit you have to get a new water pump because the v-belt pump spins the opposite direction of the serpentine kit.

and the old 69 alternator does NOT have an internal regulator. there was even a stamp on the box the alternator came out of that said "external regulator needed'.
