Ford Flaw
Ford Flaw
I recently had to adjust my headlights on my 03 screw. The passenger headlight was a little bit lower than the drivers so i figure i would fix it..thinking it would be easy. Im not sure if 01 and 02 are different, but i had to take the whole fixture out and adjust it in the air. Virtually Impossible! There were 2 adjusting screws and for the life of me i couldn't figure out which one adjusted what. I lost track of time and i finished up finally (could use a tad more adjusting but its better than before). I went to start up the truck and of course it died. Had to get AAA to come jump start me. Big flaw in Fords design IMO. If someone knows a different way to adjust the headlights please let me know. It was hell. Thanks
I've simply not seen a headlight aiming mechanism like you describe, and I find it hard to believe this is the way it is. On my truck, there is a simple screw you can reach through a hole in the radiator crossmember. You adjust this with the lights installed in the truck.
I think you have something similar, but since I don't have a 2003, I don't know what it is.

If you would have searched here prior to killing your battery, you would have found quite a few threads in this forum alone on the topic of headlamp aiming.
You need a tool like this

Others have said they have had luck with a gear wrench down there, I don't see how myself. Must have smaller hands than me.
Here is one of the threads on the topic.

Not really a flaw with the headlamp design, more so a flaw in how it was adjusted.
