Lincoln Ford Remote Start problems

My mom just picked up a 2009 Lincoln MKX and that dealer installed Ford aftermarket alarm/remote start system. Anyway this thing has a mind of it own. I just hit and held the button 3 times and the car when CRAZY! The horn was honking so loud and in no pattern at all. Car wouldnt start. Finally I popped the hood to disconnect the battery and my dad finally cut it off by hitting a bunch of buttons.

What a POS!

Any ideas>?

This is a Ford Gold RMST / Alarm system ?

Sounds a bit like it is not installed correctly, or not programmed correctly.

Which button did you are talking about ?

Yes Ford RMST Alarm System.
The button is the one on a SEPERATE keyfob with a single button with a picture of a lock on it.

Personally I would like to just remove the system. Do you know if the factory wiring was affected?

That does not look like the Alarm version.

When compared to the Code Alarm line, that looks like the CA-421 remote start only.

The system is installed just like the Code Alarm one, splicing into the factory harness. There is not an item like the RAP/CSM module that is replaced, only added to.

If this is the system, and the car lost its mind, I would say it is an incorrect install.

Should be easy enough to remove, and you can replace it with a Code Alarm version that has the alarm ( if you want that feature ) as well as the remote entry, so you only need to carry one fob ( unless the MK has the remote entry controls on the key head )/

Sorry, that is old school BSM/VSM.

RAP - Remote Antitheft Personality
CSM - Central Security Module

The part that the factory RKEs use in the truck to unlock the doors with the fobs or the keypad ( and other functions ).

If you ask Travis at KC Autosound, he might be able to get you a PDF version of it.

If you buy the replacement from him, for a small extra charge he pre wires it for your MY Ford, and supplies the install diagrams with the exact info ( color codes, not just door lock / unlock wire terms ).

Contact info on his web site

www.kcautosound.com

If the place they use to install remote starters ( or worse yet, the tech staff at the dealer ) cannot install it right the first time, I agree take care of it yourself.

I don't even trust the dealer by me to do recall work. They are that bad over there.
