Short in my window motor/battery saver circuit

I was moving my wife's stuff last year and I believe something was setting on the passenger seat window switch for about 5 hours. Now the fuse burns out after a couple of minutes even with the truck turned off. I pulled the battery saver relay and it actuates immediately when I touch it against the contacts. My guess is that this relay should be normally off. Does anybody have a wiring diagram of the battery saver and window motor circuit that I could take a look at to try and diagnose this problem. I'd rather not bring it in and pay someone to do it if I can replace a simple part somewhere!

I have a 2000 XLT 2wd with the 5.4L

Thanks!

The power windows are supplied power by the Accy delay relay itself, which the coil is powered by the battery saver relay ( coil power ) and the GEM ( coil ground ).

If all you need is the diagrams, here you go.

How is the battery saver relay triggered?

the Battery saver relay has power to the coil at all times, and the ground to the coil is switched on and off by the GEM.

The common terminal on the Battery Saver Relay is on the BJB fuse # 103 ( 50A ).

The Normally open terminal ( pin #5 ) powers :
- courtesy lamps
- the coil on the interior lamp relay ( the ground is controlled by the GEM )
- The power side of the Accessory delay relay coil ( ground on the coil is controlled by the GEM ).

The Accy delay relay will run while the key is in the run / accy position, or until any door is opened, until the GEM timer runs out ( ~ 15 min ?? ), or the GEM turns off the Battery saver relay.

Ahh, my battery saver relay triggers even with the key not in the ignition. So it seems to me that there is a short somewhere that's keeping it on all of the time.

So if you leave the door open and wait 30 min, the battery saver relay is still energized ?

Remember you need to check something that feeds the relay, or measure over the coil / check for ground. Power is always there.
