I have a 2005 F150 lariat 4x4. My a/c worked fine all day, and while turning the wheel I heard a whining down noise from the dash, thought nothing of it. I look over at the a/c which was set to auto, and it was off. no lights, nothing.. and the passenger side heated seats were turned on. I tried turning the heated seats off and the a/c back to auto, but nothing happened. I checked all the fuses, and wires behind the switches.... nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Is there anything else I can do before taking it to the stealership, where they'll take more money and waste my time. Thanks in advance for any help!


Sorry if there is already another thread, but I searched and found nothing on this specific issue.

 

took it to ford.. apparently my seat heating element burnt out.. as did my a/c unit.. its gonna be about 900 to fix.. thanks for the help...

 

I know you were being sarcastic, but I honestly suspect there's no one on the forum that has any idea what's causing your problem. I certainly don't (but would like to know, since I have the same MY truck).

My Haynes manual shows no information on wiring for heated seats and there's nothing in the wiring diagram showing any association between heated seats and a climate controlled AC (which I think you have). So, I'd try to find out why BOTH of these systems failed. Can the dealership explain it to you?

They just stated that the units "burnt out"..

The only thing that could have caused these electrical problems, im assuming, must have been my going mudding the week prior. They worked fine for the week, but then shorted I guess. I'm not that electrically savvy, so I may be wrong.
