Search for the term "code 52" ( including the " ).

This produces 15 threads on the topic

You will need to verify your MY to the threads ( your profile is not complete ) to make ure it does not have a different meaning.
Think this is one of the codes that is the same over MY, but I am not 100% sure right now without your MY to compare it to.

air bag loight code 52

For a 2007 code LFC 52 is for passenger side seat belt buckle problem switch circuit There are 2 DTC# listed B2438 and B 2439. Both have to do with the buckle switch circuit. You must fill out your profile in oreder to get the answers to your questions. Right now it is a shot in the dark.

I have seen this 2 or 3 times, but never saw someone try it, or report back after trying it.

I have no clue on SRS faults, if they can clear this way ( once the repair is made )

.....

The 02 WSM contains the following quote in the section regarding retrieving DTCs:

Once 128 key cycles have been recorded since the concern was last detected, the DTC will automatically be removed from memory

The 97 WSM contains the following:

Once 256 key cycles have been recorded since the concern was last detected, the DTC will automatically be removed from memory.

Not sure what MY it changed, I'm not that curious.

Now, it doesn't say the lamp will be turned off, but that is not, to me, an unreasonable assumption.

If someone wants to put some wear and tear on their ignition switch and try it out, I'd be interested in finding a definite answer.

Is this specific to the airbag section ?

In general if a DTC ( lean condition as an example ) is registered, and the CEL icon is illuminated, the code is in memory.

Once the condition is fixed, after 2 drive cycles the CEL icon will go out, and the DTC removed from memory ?? I know you can manually clear something like a P0401 code, after fixing it, or use 2 drive cycles.

Don't know if the section you quote is specific to the DTC summary / over section, or in 501-20A/20B ?

Yes, I am too lazy to look right now

And I went and looked, and learned my lesson about the wrong LFC table, thanks !!!!

It's in 501-20A or B and is specific to the SRS system.

On my 97 Expedition it took about 3 months, but I finally hit that magical 256th key cycle and the 5-2 air bag error went away. I did'nt actually count the key cycles, but it would seem that it would be roughly 256 key cycles in that period of time.
