SuperCrew Power door locks (rear doors unlock automatically)

I have a 2005 SuperCrew and when you shut the truck off the rear doors do not unlock like the fronts. Is there a way to make them unlock? Its like a child lock function but you can manually pull the lock up or hit the unlock button up front and the door opens.

Some of my riders get a little frustrated because they cant get out!

Any idea?

I imagine rewiring the rear door locks so that they opened automatically when you shut the ignition off would be pretty complicated. The front's don't really unlock either, it's just that when you pull the handle, it unlocks the door it's attached to.

But, you CAN teach the truck not to lock anything when you start driving it (normally, the doors all lock at 5mph). The procedure is in your owners manual and it involves doing things like turning the ignition on and off and activating the door locks in a certain sequence as I recall. Once you do this, the doors will remain unlocked until you physically lock them by pushing the button down, or by pushing the lock button on one of the front doors or on your key fob.

I may have to do that. I didnt want to resort to that though. Seems odd that they stay locked or you cant get out unless you unlock it. Everyone loves the truck then when they get out they gripe about the locks in the back.

I wonder if there's any way to adapt the mechanical linkage from a front door handle to a rear door so that it would push the lock up when moved like the front handles do? That's really what you want, isn't it?

I too have the probelm and couldn't figured out why Ford did it. A friend told me is for a safety reason when little children are riding in the back seat & they can't just open the door until the driver/passenger hits the unlock button

I guess that is what happens when you use parts from the Soccer Mom truck to a real truck. My '01 Screw did the same thing also.

Wonder if the CV does the same thing ??
