power windows

I have a 1997 F150 4X4 extracab with power windows. Just recently I went outside and my drivers window was open. Then today it was down again. It's doing this with the ignition off. It hasn't been driven or even unlocked for two days. Is is the switch or relay unit?

I was also told a faulty motor will allow the window to go down on its own, however I have not had any trouble with the drivers window at all rolling it up or down.

I guess that could be true, but it would mean the motor free wheels, and I would expect something like to have other issues as well.

It is going to cost ~ 100.00 to find out, by getting a new motor and installing it.

Try a test, when you turn off the key, open the door, and see if the power windows still work with no key in the ignition.
This is testing the accessory delay relay, which should turn off power to the windows once the door is open.

Thyanks SSCULLY I'll try it. My master panel has gotten wet before. I have another panel, (used but OK) just haven't tried it yet.
