Blown Fusible Link
Blown Fusible Link
Hi all,
I was driving in to work this morning when my truck died on me. I tried to start it and realized my electrical power was out. I popped open the hood and checked the fusible link from the battery and found it was blown. Yesterday I was seeing strange symptoms. My gauge panel would flash and the instruments would swing all the way to the right. On top of that the truck would buck forward a little. My guess is that the truck was stalling and was acting as though I had just put the key into the ignition causing the instrument panel and truck to act like that. Prior to this past weekend I was having troubles starting the truck. Over the weekend I took a look and found the cause. The end of the cable going from the starter relay to the starter looked as though it had melted. I cut the bad end off and put a new connector on then these problems started. I am looking at replacing the wire harness but I'm concerned that something is shorting on me. Does anyone have any ideas?

Solution: The mechanic that worked on my truck last connected the wire that went from the battery post to the starter to the starter relay instead of the post. This was to fix a corroded cable. I got a new cable and ran it correctly and that solved the problem.
