One of the supporting members here has posts where if you have DRLs, and are required to have them, don't buy a HID kit, or have the lights turned on all the time.

I would think a kit that has a low enough trigger voltage on the ballast would run them, albeit at full brightness.

I also put one of those LED strips under the tailgate as an additional warning to the clowns driving behind me. I've been rear-ended twice, and Janet was rear-ended once, by those same people driving around in a fog. So, any little bit of extra warning that I can display that says, "Hey! Wake up! I'm here!" is something I go for.

And, SSCULLY, putting on HIDs does kind of make it impossible to have DRLs, doesn't it? However, I've been seeing "dimmable" HIDs advertised here lately. I wonder if they could be somehow adapted?

To anyone who objects on the basis of Government telling you what to do, or trying to keep you safe, I'm on your side! I hate "child-proof" caps! Bring back mercury thermometers! Give us back leaded fuel and high compression engines! Put the lead back in paint so it will last! Surround very hot things with asbestos! I could go on and on, but hopefully, you get the idea that I'm not in favor of "Big Brother" protecting me. I'll do it myself, thank you!

Jack, I'm not a rebel but I think government has intruded too much into our lives. Yes, there are many in that fog and for a lot of them, I don't think it ever lifts. I agree with putting all the warning to the rear that you can (without it being tacky). I was rear-ended sitting dead stopped on the freeway (ALL lanes were dead stopped and I had been stopped for about 8-9 seconds) at about 35 mph (brakes locked for about 100 feet) by a 17 yr. old gal who was jaw boning with her friend. Fortunately she wasn't hurt but it totalled her mothers car, although I don't think any amount of warning would have avoided it, she was simply paying NO attention.
