Fuel Gage issues?

I have a 2008 FX4 that I bought 3 weeks ago. It just went over 1000 miles and I already am having an issue with my fuel gage.
I had parked on a small incline, maybe 15 or 20 degrees, and had just over 1/4 of a tank of fuel. When I went to start my truck a few minutes later to drive off, my gas gage was on empty and low fuel was on the display. I wrote it off because of parking on the incline, but after driving 15 minutes down the road, it was still the same. I parked on level ground for a couple of hours and then headed down the road again with no change so I went ahead and filled it up and it took 22 gallons, mind you I have a 30 gallon tank on my truck. The gage showed full now and life was good.
3 days later, I had just under 3/4 of a tank and parked on level ground for several hours. I took off later and the truck showed a full tank now and stayed that way for my 30 minute drive home. Today it showed 5/8 of a tank and that is correct.
Anyone else seen this issue?

Yes Bass I have the same issue with my '08 KR. Yesterday, the gas gauge read a little over half full and today the gauge actually moves to the left, past empty and the fuel low warning comes on. I don't get it. Fortunately, the truck is under warranty, but i have only 315 miles on the truck and I'm already having problems? Not a good way to start a relationship.

Probably a software glitch, take it to the dealer when the problem is occuring and post what they say.

I don't think it's a software glitch. The truck's been at the dealer's for two days and they have no idea what's wrong. It's got me concerned -- a brand new truck with less than 400 miles and they're ripping it apart chasing electrons

Problem fixed! Believe it or not, it all had to do with a broken wire in the passenger side visor (vanity mirror). My wife had used the mirror on Sunday, which was the same day that the fuel gauge quit working. Apparently, the mirror (lights) and the fuel gauge share the same wiring harness?

My FX4 doesn't even have lights on the visor mirror's, so I know it didn't cause my issue. Mine hasn't done it since I filled it up after that episode, but it is still in the back of my mind. Of course, I haven't parked on any inclines since either. I will have to test it out sometime and see if it does it again.

Mine started acting up when I moved to a house with a very steep driveway I park on. Now, it jumps around 1/8" tank from where it really is. Sometimes does it on it's own, but always does it when I tap the instrument cluster. I figure the sender unit is going bad.

My fuel gauge has always been for entertainment purposes only.
I've never relied on it or made any attempt to interpret what needle location might actually mean.

I always fill up. I always hit my trip reset.
I know I can go about 400 miles on a tank and I rely on my trip odometer.

For backup, I rely on my low fuel light.

But the fuel gauge is about as interesting to me as that all important Oil gauge.
