Auxillary reverse lights

i have tried searching for a thread in which someone explains how to wire auxillary reverse lights so that they come on automatically when the factory reverse lights do but all i seem to find is people wiring them to a toggle or rocker switch. im afraid if i do this i will accidently leave them on. can anyone explain to me the simplest way that this can be done. thanks in advance

I used driving lights as extra reverse lights and I just spliced them into the wire for the OEM reverse lights. Bad idea. It's too much voltage to the MLPS sensor and I kept blowing those. Now I have to add a relay into the system but they will still go on when the reverse lights go on. My boyfriend is doing it because he knows this stuff backward and forward. I'll find out.

You can do either a separate switch or tie them in to the reverse light wiring using a simple relay setup. I have a separate switch on my 250, but it only works when the truck is started and I seem to leave the aux lights turned on alot while going down the road. If you tie it into the reverse lights you won't have thais problem.

I have a plug in light which plugs into your 7 pin trailer outlet. I think it was around 30.00. It really puts the light out when backing up especially with dark tinted windows at night, no more rolling down the windows. The light also can be turned on manually when the truck is started by simply twisting the light to the aux position.

Do you recall where you got the light from?

I bought mine from Tractor Supply. I beleive it was 29.99. I don't remember the name of it and don't have the box anymore. I have had it almost a year and love it.

tie auxiliary reverse lights to 7 pin harness

the center wire of the 7 pin is the reverse sensor, the red wire is power, use some Ancor heat shrink butt connectors and tie into this conveniently located source...the white large wire is a ground....
