Reverse Parking Sensor

The "OFF" light stays on , on the button for the reverse parking sensor... any ideas what this could be or has anyone encountered this problem. The light goes on immdeiatly when you put the truck in reverse and stays on till you turn the truck off. I have back up camera but it would be nice if I knew what was wrong with this switch so the light wouldn't always be on. Thank you to anyone that has an idea on what the problem might be... the last thing I want to do it go to the dealership and have them charge me $100+ for 5 minutes to say ok you need a new part or something etc.!!

Do your OEM reverse lights come on when you shift into reverse?

yes they do. Right when you put the truck into reverse the parking sensor "off" light, lights up and the reverse lights do come on. I'm not very techincal but think maybe I should pull the housing off and look around in there and see if all the wires are still in tact.?

At first I thought it might be your MLPS sensor but your reverse lights come on. Every electrical problem I've had in my truck is 'stupid' stuff. Bent or knicked wire, loose ground. Always check the easiest stuff first, wires, fuses etc.

would it be a fuse tho since the off light comes on? that is showing its getting power and a blown fuse would prevent that light from coming on

I had the same issues with my 2005.Took it to the ford dealer and they spent a serious amount of time getting to the problem.Turns out that under the drivers side floor, attached to the frame rail is the major connector for everything going to the back. The problem is that the connector is enclosed in this black plastic box on side of the frame rail and it fills up with salt, dirt etc. They found several wires corroding. They made the fix and everything has been good. Its now a year later and its doing it again..This time I'm making the fix..Hope this helps..

The Reverse Sensing System Can Store Fault Codes Indicating the problem, A Factory or other Advanced Scan Tool Should Be able to pull the code, On my Truck it was the Right Rear Outer Sensor, I was able to purchase a replacement on eBay from the dealer sensors were $88 each and that was with a discount!
